What Makes a Meal Nourishing? A Better Question Than “Is This Healthy?”

One of the most common things I hear from women is:

“But I eat pretty healthy…”

Usually followed by:

So why does my energy crash every afternoon?

Why am I not seeing the results I want?

Why am I still hungry all the time?

Here’s something I want you to consider:

A healthy choice isn’t always the most helpful choice for YOU.

Think about a smoothie made with fruit, spinach and almond milk.

Healthy? Absolutely.

But if you’re hungry again an hour later because it didn’t have enough protein, fat or fiber, it probably wasn’t the most supportive breakfast for your body.

Same with a big beautiful salad for lunch.

Lots of vegetables = definitely healthy!

But if it’s mostly lettuce and veggies with a little chicken on top, and you find yourself standing in the pantry at 3pm or reaching for the afternoon coffee + sweet treat. That tells us something.

This week, instead of asking:

“Is this healthy?”

Try asking:

“Is this meal helping me feel and function the way I want to?”

Will it keep me satisfied?

Will it support steady energy?

Will it help me feel more in control around food?

Will it support the goals I’m working toward?

Because you can eat a lot of healthy foods and still be missing something your body needs.

And here’s the tricky part: the thing that’s missing isn’t the same for everyone.

One woman may need to learn how to build more balanced meals.

Another may need a realistic plan so she’s not making every food decision on the fly.

Someone else may know exactly what to do but struggle to make it stick when life gets busy.

That’s why I’m much more interested in helping you understand your biggest opportunity than giving you a diet plan or an endless list of supplements to try.

So this week, try asking the question above at one meal each day.

Get curious about how that meal actually makes you feel, not just whether you’d put it in the “healthy” category.

And if you haven’t taken the Missing Piece assessment yet, that’s exactly what I designed it to help you uncover: the area of food and nutrition that may deserve your attention most right now.

I hope you find this helpful and I can’t wait to help you gain more clarity in the days to come.
