Healthy On-the-Go Snack Ideas for Sustained Energy and Busy Days

Somewhere between the dugout, the carpool line, and a long week of zoom calls, I realized something had to give.

Not the sports or the busy-ness of this season – just my approach to keeping everyone well fed without losing my mind. 😄

If your spring looks anything like mine right now (packed schedules, travel, and meals on-the-go) this one’s for you.

I’ve been spending about 10 minutes on Fridays prepping a handful of snacks and light meals that travel well and keep us energized whether we’re eating on the sidelines, grabbing a quick bite between activities or heading to the beach.

(Don’t be fooled. My kids still make their way to the snack shack with their allowance money and I love that for them. But having something nourishing on hand helps to balance out the treats and saves me from surviving on stale nachos by the third inning 😂).

Here’s what’s been in our cooler bag lately:

Snackleboxes for the win

The more colorful the better.

I try to balance fresh fruit and whole foods with a few fun treats to keep it interesting for the kids. The best part? What doesn’t get eaten stays fresh in the fridge for the next day.

On-the-go hummus platters

This is a hit for kids and adults alike. Soft pita, fresh veggies and yummy hummus for dipping. Great for picnics and pool days alike.

Yogurt parfaits on repeat

For years, yogurt upset my stomach, but I decided to give it another go and I’ve had zero issues!

I’m not sure if it’s due to healing my gut over the years or something else, but I’ll take it! I’ve been loving yogurt parfaits for lunch on the go.

My favorite combo:

It tastes like dessert but is packed with protein + fiber. 🙌

Mix & match bento boxes

This is a great way to clean out whatever is in the fridge! Leftovers from dinner, veggies that need to be eaten while fresh, a scoop of cottage cheese – anything goes!

Protein Bites + Whole Food Sweet Treats

Nutrient-dense sweet treats are always a great alternative to grabbing candy from the concession stand or gas station when your schedule is packed.

We have loads of yummy protein bite recipes in the Lindywell app and you can find this peanut butter chocolate sweet treat by clicking here

Note: the peanut butter chocolate cups are best left at home in the freezer, but the protein bites are perfect for on the go!

Here’s a link to similar travel containers if you’re in need of a refresh.

Stash these snacks in a cute cooler bag and enjoy!
