Today I’m sharing an email that I received from a client/friend who participated in The Pilates Body Program nearly 2 years ago. She was a part of the inaugural group and hearing this update from her made my week.
I pour my heart into what I do and am not always sure that I’m making a difference. So hearing from past clients like this reminds me that what I do each day is worth it.
I hope this encourages you and thank you for taking a moment out of your busy week to visit this blog 🙂
“Hi Robin!
I thought of you last night and wanted you email you and tell you…
So I’ve been on vacation the last few weeks, first to NY and then to SF, with a few days of rigorous work in between.
I ate a lot on my trips and am sure I gained a few pounds. I’ve been obsessing about it and wanting to work out in between trips late at night after work but have been too tired. I got home from the drive from SF last night and was so tired. But I kept thinking I had to go for a run, I feel so flabby, I have to work out…beating myself up like crazy.
But I just decided to let that go, be gentle with myself, and slide into bed at 9:30 and sleep til 7 (I am usually not even HOME by 9:30 let alone asleep). And it felt so good. And this morning I had a moment of clarity where I thought:
This obsession is pointless and harmful to myself and my spirit.
A few extra pounds–who cares!
I had fabulous vacations!
I will recover and even if I don’t, who cares. Skinny does not equal beautiful. It’s hard to get that out of my brain sometimes.
But I am still remembering little tidbits from the PBP and that was one of the biggest that I like to remind myself of. It’s such a hard mentality to get out of but I’m so much healthier (and well rested!) when I adhere to it.
So thanks for being a part of that healthier mindset for me. I love what you stand for and what your business model is built off. It’s inspiring!”
I hope this reminds you to take care of yourself today 🙂

Reminds me of this Tina Fey quote I read recently: “I don’t weigh myself,” says Fey. “I just go by if my clothes fit. I try not to participate too much in the incredible amount of wasted energy that women have around dealing with food. I go up and down a few pounds with a relative amount of kindness to myself. And I have a daughter, and I don’t want her to waste her time on all of that.”
“relative amount of kindness.” Love that!
Amazing post! The points made are so dead on. I love it;) Keep up the great work, Robin! 😉
