Hi Beauties,
I’m so excited to have Conni from Art In The Find here on The Balanced Life today.
As we’re gearing up for the Pilates Summer Series I asked her to share some tips on how to dress for your body shape, especially when it comes to summer clothes & swimwear.
Remember our theme for the upcoming challenge:
we will NOT be afraid of our bikinis this year!
Learning how to dress for your individual shape is central to leaving insecurity behind and embracing a new, confident, summer glow. Enjoy!
Hi Everyone!
For those of you who may not have met me yet, I am Conni, a style blogger and stylist at Art in the Find in San Diego, CA and I love sharing style tips with my readers.
I was introduced to Robin’s blog through an online collaboration a few month’s back through Blog’s I’m Loving that Robin posted.
I am inspired by Robin’s passion for Pilates and can’t wait to participate in the Pilates Summer Series. I’m so thrilled to be visiting The Balanced Life again as I get to share with you some great tips for styling your body shape for spring and summer.
Making the most out of your body shape:
Tips on clothing that will best fit your body type
Whether you are picking out your swimsuit or throwing on a fabulous maxi dress for the warm weather, it’s important to think about making the most out of your body shape. Not every piece of clothing out there is made to fit your body type.
Why?
Because we’re all shaped a bit differently. And when you’re buying something new, or looking into your closet, it’s important to make the right choices so you will buy clothes that will flatter your body type!
How do you know what body type you have?
Well, there are 6 common body types frequently discussed that women fit into and today we’re going to talk about 4 of the most common.
Here’s what you’ll need to get started: a tape measure, pen, paper, and this handy body type guide.
Start by measuring four main sections of your body; your shoulders, your chest, your natural waist (where your waist is the most narrow), and your hips (at their widest point). Write down those three measurements. Most likely, you will fall into one of the four categories for body type listed below.

Robin, thank you for letting me feature some of my favorite style tips for women on your blog! Loving it and I can’t wait to start your Pilates challenge next week! xo, Conni
Hi Robin! I’m a new reader and love most of your posts but I have to say I disagree with this a little bit. I absolutely agree that we shouldn’t be afraid of our bathing suits, but I think the “best suit for your shape” is the one you feel the most fabulous in-regardless of the cut or shape! I have larger hips and I love them- I don’t want to hide behind a sarong to “minimize my hips and thighs.” Anywho, that’s just my two cents 🙂
Hi Amanda! I’m so glad you shared your thoughts. 🙂 I agree with you 100%! I think Conni’s hope was just to help direct women toward a suit that may help women feel fabulous if they didn’t feel that way already. If you have a suit you feel fabulous in that doesn’t fit into these guidelines then THAT is the suit for you! 🙂 I appreciate you sharing that and admire your positivity. 🙂
