I love a good day at the spa, but sometimes it’s just not in the cards. Whether it’s due to finances, childcare, or lack of time, carving out hours away from home can be a challenge.
I’ve recently started creating mini spa days at home and it’s been such a treat. It’s an easy way to indulge in a little pampering and self-care without spending a fortune or leaving the house.
Here’s my routine for an at-home spa day. I encourage you to give it a try…
Upon waking: Lemon Water Cleanse
Lounge in your robe while sipping warm lemon water to cleanse your system (read more about the benefits of warm lemon water).
Breakfast: Smoothie & Journaling
Start the day with a nourishing smoothie (like this or this) and sip slowly while journaling and reflecting on your current state of being.
Post-Breakfast: At-Home Pilates
Pick a routine from my YouTube channel or if you’re in The Sisterhood, pick a favorite full-length workout of choice and spend a little quality time connecting your mind with your body on your mat.
Post-Workout: Aromatherapy Shower
Before hopping in the shower take 5 minutes to dry brush your entire body. Dry brushing helps improve circulation, flushes the lymphatic system and removes dry skin (read more about the benefits of dry skin brushing).
Take a long, hot shower focused on exfoliation and aromatherapy. Try this at-home sugar scrub recipe to exfoliate your skin or pick up a few of these Aura Cacia Aromatherapy Shower Tablets. Choose lavender for relaxation or eucalyptus for an energizing effect.
Afterward, moisturize with your favorite moisturizer from head to toe.
Mid-Morning: Mani & Pedi
Take your polish and tools outside to enjoy a relaxing 30 minutes of hand & foot care while enjoying fresh, outdoor air. Mineral Fusion is my new favorite, less-toxic nail polish brand. It works much better than others I’ve tried.
Pre-Lunch: Reading & Relaxation
Spend some time alone reading and relaxing. Ignore the to-do list, this is time for you to slow down, be present and care for your body and mind.
Lunch: Fresh Spa Lunch with Infused Detox Water
Make a lunch at home with fresh, natural ingredients. This fresh salad would hit this spot. So would this one.
Make a batch of infused detox water to sip the rest of the day and maintain your “spa state of mind”.
And there you have it! By taking half a day to care for yourself in an intentional manner you’ll be feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to take on whatever is ahead.
Question: Do you do at-home spa days? If not, is it something you’re willing to try?

You have made this sound much more lovely than my occasional multi-task while rubbing off old polish, skipping the new, jump in a quick shower, dry off while running through the hall to do the next task. Home is an oasis in your article! Many thanks for the readjustment!
I love this!! Actually I do a mini-spa each night by taking a hot bath to relax and unwind. I add lavender essential oil, baking soda and epsom salt. In the winter I drink a hot cup of ginger tea while I’m in the bath. I have 2 kids so its such a treat after a day of working, running around, etc. Squeeze it in when you can, ladies, don’t wait for a full day alone! Robin, I love your website and content!
Wow, this describes such a peaceful day. I have a homedics foot bath that I fill with hot water, Epsom salt and drops of peppermint oil. My feet feel brand new after. Then I use a foot cream that a friend gave me from Aveda. It smells so good.
