A Trend I Love: Women’s Walking Clubs

Hi friends!

I’m back with another edition of Wellness Wednesday!

Thank you so much for your thoughtful responses to last week’s topic. It’s a tough one to navigate and I’m grateful for the conversations it started.

If you missed my take on GLP-1s you can read it here.

This week – we’re keeping it fun and light!

Here are a few things I’ve been loving, learning and using (including a trend that I can definitely get on board with)…

Loving:

Women’s Walking Clubs…

You might remember when “Hot Girl Walks” were trending a few years back –  originally this cute, catchy concept about getting outside and embracing confidence, gratitude, and big dreams.

I love any trend that gets people moving in a fun way. But women 40+ have quietly taken that idea and made it even better by adding community and making it social.

All across the country, local walking clubs are popping up with names like Midlife Miles, Moms Who Move and Sunrise Sister Walks.

And they’re gaining major traction! In cities like Denver, Austin, and Charlotte, 50-200 women are showing up for connection, movement and self-care.

Walking has been one of the most powerful wellness shifts I made in the last few years and I love that it’s continuing to grow in popularity AND being paired with connection.

It’s a good reminder, improving your health and changing the way you feel every day doesn’t have to be complicated.

You don’t need fancy equipment and you don’t need perfect conditions (where are my mall walkers at?). All you need is a few people, some comfy shoes and willingness to meet up and get moving to start a walking club of your own.

Which got me thinking…would you be interested in more community-wide encouragement or challenges around walking? Comment and let us know. 🙂

Using:

Speaking of walking, I get asked regularly via DM what I use to track my steps.

Full disclosure: I go in seasons of wearing a fitness wearable and seasons where I don’t. I find it’s most helpful for me to change it up. But when I do wear one, I love my Garmin Lily

I love that it looks like a real watch (leather strap) and that I can disconnect my phone so that I’m not connected to bluetooth and receiving notifications and texts on my wrist throughout the day.

Learning:

If you haven’t already, you’ll soon see vibration plates trending as one of the latest “must-have” items to add to your wellness routine.

They aren’t new, they’ve been around for a long time, but are they really worth it or is social media just selling us another thing that is going to collect dust in the corner of our rooms?

I’m diving in first so you don’t have to. I’ve ordered one of my own to provide my own anecdotal experience and I’m digging into the research as well.

Stay tuned for an upcoming Wellness Wednesday where I’ll share my takeaways so you can decide if it’s worth the investment or something to skip!

PS: Are there other trends or products you’re seeing that you want me to do a full review on? Comment on this post and let me know, my team and I read all of them!
