THE ROLL OVER
The Roll Over is a classic Pilates exercise that I know many of you are on a quest to master!
The Roll Over is an advanced Pilates exercise that is designed to:
- strengthen the abdominals
- increase spinal mobility
It also feels AMAZING and provides a good stretch for your lower back and hamstrings.
In today’s video I’ll walk you through the Roll Over, provide modifications and help you get the most out of the exercise.

Hi. I am pretty new and this is definitely advanced for me. I have seen improvement in many moves since I joined in September 2020 and I know this one will take some time. How do you get your lower abs to help lift your hips off the floor? Any tips will be greatly appreciated! ; )
Hi Adreina! You’re right in that this is a challenging exercise that can take time. ? It can be helpful to start with small abdominal lifts (shown in the video at about 2:45) before progressing to the full Roll over. This really helps engage the lower abs and helps you get used to making that muscle connection.
