Hi Beauties!
It’s that time of year! Summer is about to start and a lot of us are thinking about how we’re going to get in shape for swimsuit season.
It can be overwhelming, right? After all, we want to look and feel our best!
I’m right there with you. Getting swimsuit-ready has been on my mind a lot lately. The clock is ticking, and the pressure is on.
But I have good news…getting swimsuit-ready and feeling your best this summer is easier than you think!
Here are 5 ways to get swimsuit-ready fast, TBL-style. ?
1. Talk to yourself like you would to a friend!
Affirmations can be a great way to start or end your day. Write down your affirmations and place them around your home where you’ll see them often. Or set your phone alarm to go off several times a day with a positive affirmation that resonates with you. Here are a few to get you started:
- “Loving my body starts with changing my mind.”
- “I choose to love my body the way it is and for how it serves me.”
- “My body is a gift. I show it the love it deserves.”
- “Who I am on the inside makes me just as beautiful on the outside.”
- “I am already complete and swimsuit-ready, just the way I am.”
2. Practice gratitude daily.
Do your best to focus on all the fun you’re going to have this summer with your friends and family. Try not to let old feelings about your body hold you back from playing with your kids or going outside. Instead, start a daily practice of gratitude for all the ways your body serves you in having fun this summer!
3. Treat yourself to a new suit!
Buy a swimsuit that fits and helps you to embrace your already-beautiful body just as it is! Remember that 20 years from now you will not care about the size of your thighs in a pair of summer shorts. But you WILL care about the memories you made and the fun that you had.
I’m on the hunt for a new one-piece this year that works for my new body shape and allows me to nurse on the go. Instead of messing with an old swimsuit that no longer serves you, find a new suit that fits the body you have today. Feeling confident in the fit of your suit will help you to embrace your body just as it is…beautiful and powerful. (And remember, most people are so concerned with themselves that they are not even paying attention to the things that you may feel insecure about!)
This one-piece from Athleta looks like a great option. I love the versatile straps. And this top by Aerie would look amazing (check out the back!) with any of the matching bottoms.? I also just came across Summersalt’s line of swimwear and loved so many of their styles!
4. Take a scrolling break.
It can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing your summer with what you see on Instagram. If you follow an account that makes you feel bad about your body, or the fact that you’re not in what our culture and the media claim to be “summer-ready” shape, tap the “unfollow” button! I bet you won’t even miss seeing it in your feed anymore.
5. Show your skin some love!
Our skin is our body’s largest organ, so we can’t forget to take care of it! As someone who films a lot of Pilates workouts at the beach, I love Beautycounter’s Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 30.
And if I’m spending the day with my family outdoors, I also try to remember to toss a sun hat with UPF protection in my bag, along with my favorite water bottle to stay extra-hydrated throughout the day! The Sunlover UPF Dress by Athleta looks like a great option, too!
So there you have it! In just a few simple steps, you can be on your way to being swimsuit-ready without having to change a thing about your body.
It can be hard to let go of old ways of thinking about what “swimsuit-ready” means, but I hope these suggestions give you some ideas about how to embrace the body you have today and enjoy some time outdoors with those you love.
This summer will be what we make of it! So, let’s choose our health, fun, and making memories. Are you with me?
xo,

I’m 20lbs heavier than what is normal for me due to severe adrenal dysfunction and my body isn’t healed enough to drop the weight yet. It’s HARD being “bare skin” season and feeling really uncomfortable in my body. I’ve decided that this year I’m buying board shorts to wear with my swimming suit because it just makes me feel more comfortable. I’m just not at a place mentally yet where I’m like “yeah! I’m going to rock this body!” but I don’t want to miss out on pool time with my kids so I’m meeting in the middle. If I can cover up my bum and upper thighs, I’m just way less insecure so that’s my plan!
That sounds like a great plan Kaytee! Continue to be kind to yourself and do what makes you comfortable. We’re cheering you on! 🙂
I’m a “petite” person and I wear board shorts. I think they are fun and I never have to worry about tugging them into place. I got a plain black pair and three cute tops to choose from

This is the kind of “beach body” post I can get behind. My new favorite suits came from this:

Lots of nursing friendly options too!
Just turned 47 last week and and a laundry list of diseases and health issues. I saw your 5 day Pilates post and did day 2 today. Along with eating right and my usual daily walks with my dog Tanner, I’m determined to loose at least 15 pounds though 25 would be great. i have a lot of pain issues so it will be slow going. I’m thankful these videos are only 15 minutes.
Happy belated birthday, Becky! We’re glad to hear that you’ve been incorporating Pilates into your routine. ? One day at a time – you got this. We are here to support you and are cheering for you!
