Anything you would like! The banana is there to thicken the smoothie and add a little sweetness. You could add any frozen fruit you like, ice, more milk or omit completely. Enjoy!

  1. What do you think is the best substitute for nut butters? Because we have a nut allergy in the family, I sometimes use sunbutter, but this stronger flavor doesn’t always work well. Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi Kate! While I haven’t tried it for myself, I have heard that lightly sweetened tahini and coconut butter are two tasty nut-free alternatives!

  2. Can you taste the avacado at all? I know they have great health benefits, but I cannot stand them, LOL! If not able to taste, though I would be willing to leave it in for the nutrients. Also, are the items in #4 of the instructions suggestions for protein powders one could use? Thanks!!

Hi Michele! It may depend on how sensitive you are to it, but based on our experience and feedback, you can’t taste the avocado – and the avocado helps make the smoothie creamy! You’re also welcome to omit it if you prefer. ? For protein powders, we have some great options on our Amazon shop (under Food + Nutrition) – will include the link below! https://www.amazon.com/shop/thebalancedlifepilateswithrobinlong?listId=2IYQUJ3YKH7GM

Hi there! While we haven’t tried this approach, one thing you might want to try is making individual serving baggies, freezing the ingredients, and then blending when ready to enjoy (instead of blending first and freezing after)!

The idea of pre freezing prepared ingredients in ziploc bags is great! I’ve tried it before and it’s so nice to just take it out of the freezer, add the milk and nut butter and blend!

OH MY GOSH! This is delicious. I didn’t have frozen fruit so I used fresh but hands down I will add to favorites. My 90 yo mom hates smoothies no matter what I put in them but this one she like. Thank you.

You can use flax seeds or chia seeds, although chia seeds will change the texture a bit (they will thicken the smoothie). Or you can omit the seeds entirely! Do what works for you, Erica. 🙂
