Instructions
  1. Start by lining a baking dish with parchment paper, and set aside.
  2. Add the peanut butter, pure maple syrup, and vanilla extract to a stock pot over low heat, and stir until the mixture is well combined. This should take 1-2 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the rolled oats, flaxseeds, sea salt, and any optional add-ins. Mix well.
  4. Pour the mixture into the lined baking dish and flatten to about 1-inch thick. Place in the freezer to set for 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from the freezer and cut into squares.
  6. Store in the fridge or freezer until ready to enjoy!

You cane use honey instead of maple syrup and add chocolate chips and it is super yummy. I also add chai seeds

  2. I made these using almond butter and they were delicious. My 7 year old called it ‘100% good slice’ I’ll definitely be making this easy recipe again!

  3. The whole family really loved these! It kept me from making oatmeal cookies which are NOT on the anti-inflammatory diet my doctor has me on. Thanks for coming up with a winner!

I don’t have room in my freezer to put a baking dish. Can I just put it in the fridge, but for a longer time to set??

Hi Wendy! Probably. We haven’t tested that, but you can try it and see how the texture is for you. Let us know how it goes! 🙂

Hi Rhea! The texture may be a little different, but substitutions are always welcome – steel cut oats sound delicious!

Hi Irene! The freezer helps the bars firm up before putting in the fridge and helps make cutting them a little easier. One good alternative can be to roll them into small balls and keeping the chilled in a cooler. ?

  5. Made these today. This was my first time trying a Sisterhood recipe. These are delicious! I added some hemp seeds and a little bit of shredded coconut. Put a few dark chocolate morsels on top. Will definitely make again!

Hi Lori! You can use an 8″x8″ pan, although it doesn’t have to be exact. You want the bars to be about an inch thick, give or take. ?

Hi Katherine! Thank you for your message. We don’t currently include caloric information (or nutrition facts) as everyone has different needs, and we want to focus more on the whole ingredients and how they nourish us and make us feel. ? We hope you find some recipes that you enjoy!

Hi Vicki – this recipe comes out to there being about half a tablespoon of maple syrup (a little less) per square, so you may notice a difference in flavor. We haven’t tried this substitution, but using coconut sugar may change the texture as well because the maple syrup helps the ingredients combine/meld together.

Hi Moriah! A 7-inch square pan works well, but different sizes can work. You’re looking for the bars to be about an inch thick. ?

  6. i brought this recipe up again, i had never tried them but i wanted something different to go along with the supertrail mix cookies i was bringing to a potluck since i was incharge of bringing dessert, it is so great finding healthy snacks for all the difference allergies people have. it gets rather hard sometimes.

  7. We wanted something sweet after dinner and whipped these up really quick! This recipe is great because we had everything on hand and my kids loved them.
