    1. Steamed frozen zucchini works well as a banana substitute. Just don’t overdo it. 4 or 5 discs should be enough to give the smoothie enough bulk without any noticeable veggie flavor.

I used this to inspire a smoothie from leftovers… adding a small avacado, coconut milk replacing the almond, added stevia and fake maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice to taste.
    Even kids liked it.

  2. This smoothie is delicious!!!! I used vanilla almond milk so I omitted the vanilla and only added 1 tablespoon of maple syrup. I also added some frozen kale, just because. 🙂

  3. Pretty good! I used regular milk, avocado, pecans, peanut butter, vanilla protein powder, omitted the vanilla and added chia and flax seeds. I’ll have to try with some frozen fruit next time, I think it would be even better being colder. I will make this again!

  4. This was so good! I’ve been meaning to try it for awhile and finally did today! I added about a cup of baby spinach and only added a tiny bit of maple syrup. I can already tell this one will be in regular rotation!

Hi Kerri! You don’t have to freeze the bananas, but it will change the texture a bit. One idea is to use non-frozen banana and add a couple of ice cubes – let us know if you give it a try ?

  5. Oh my goodness! SO delicious! It feels indulgent almost. This will definitely become my breakfast in a pinch option!

  6. I love this recipe and so do all my kids! I added spinach to make it green for St Patrick’s day and it was even better. I leave the protein powder out. As a bonus it doesn’t spike my type 1 diabetic 5 year olds sugars like Greek yogurt smoothies do! I’ll be working on variations. Thank you
